“No one has ever become poor from giving.” We are grateful to Caritas Korea for their educational assistance to needy students. With the funds from Caritas Korea, we support 75 students every month, receiving Rs. 5,000.00 each month. From this amount, we set aside a compulsory savings (Hatton National Bank) of Rs. 1,000.00, and the remaining Rs. 4,000.00 is given to the parents during our monthly meetings.
We conduct the monthly meetings with prior notice through the WhatsApp group – EHED Trinco – Education. Our students live with their parents in various areas of Trincomalee district, including Trincomalee town and gravets, Ilupaikulam, Nilaveli, Konesapuri, Sampaltheevu, Kanniya, Kuchchaveli, Periyakulam, Salapaiyaru, Kumpurupitty, Pulmoddai, Kanthale, Muthur, Irakkakandy, Kakkamunai, and Alenkerny. Some students travel long distances to attend. They pay for their bus fares as their own contribution. Around 95% of parents attend on the same day, while a few come the next day with prior notice. During the meeting, we discuss the progress of their children.
