As part of the women’s empowerment component of the food security initiative, EHED Caritas Trincomalee conducted a practical training session on food preservation and processing. The training aimed to build skills and confidence among women to start home-based food businesses.
Key topics included: Preparation of traditional snacks – Murukku, Poonthi Laddu, and Thattu Vadai, Hygiene, quality control, and safe packaging methods, Storage, shelf-life, and food handling certification and Local marketing and selling through Caritas Food City.
Participants were deeply inspired by the personal success story of Ms. Lingeswary, a former project beneficiary now turned trainer and supplier. The hands-on experience empowered women to see the potential of turning home cooking into a viable income source.
