We organized a health, nutrition and hygiene awareness session for preschool mothers on June 13th 2025 at Azad Preschool, Muththu nagar. The session was facilitated by Ms.K.Kishalini, Public Health Midwife, MOH – Trincomalee.
The session focused on maternal and child health, nutrition for children under five, and key hygiene practices at the household level. Key highlights of the session included: Practical advice on breastfeeding, child nutrition, and household cleanliness, the importance of regular checkups and child immunization and distribution of fruit tree saplings to each participating mother, promoting environmental care and food security at the household level.
Mothers appreciated the session and requested future follow-ups topics such as
child behavior and adolescent health. The resource person emphasized that small, consistent efforts at home can lead to significant health improvements.
This training not only addressed health but also symbolically and practically connected household care with nature through the act of tree planting
