DC Level Knowledge Centre Visit and Monitoring

As part of our ongoing effort to strengthen field-level interventions, our staff visited the District-Level Knowledge Centre located at the Pastoral Centre in Trincomalee on May 15, 2025. The visit was an opportunity to observe and learn from existing practices implemented within the Centre, especially in the areas of home gardening, tree planting, and organic fertilizer (compost) production.
During the visit, our team observed the well-maintained home gardens and the systematic cultivation of tree saplings. We also had the opportunity to witness the preparation of group compost units, which are being effectively utilized to support sustainable agriculture. The practices demonstrated at the Centre offer replicable models that can be adapted and introduced to our project beneficiaries.
A discussion was also held with the staff of the Knowledge Centre to explore how such initiatives could be integrated into our own project activities. These discussions emphasized the importance of local innovation, knowledge transfer, and the use of practical demonstrations for training.
