We had an orientation meeting on the new project, “Empowered Women – Peaceful Communities through a Family – Centered Approach”, funded by Misereor, on January 29, 2025 at Piliyanthale retreat Centre. The celebration of cultural diversity took place on November 29, 2024, at the Conference Hall, EHED Caritas, Trincomalee. The event began with a holy mass, followed by cultural performances, including carols, group dances, games, and a Christmas message. People from diverse religious backgrounds participated, and they were deeply moved by the celebration.

Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC has organized the second session of the Regional Peace Forum and the Advocacy and Lobbying Programme for five Tamil Caritas Diocesan Centres (Batticalao, Jaffna, Mannar, Trincomalee and Vanni) on October 9 and 10, 2024, at EHED Caritas, Trincomalee.

Under the Peace Project, we supported one of the dropouts, Mr. R. Prithivraj, by providing a router carpentry tool for his father’s carpentry work on September 13, 2024, through our director. This assistance aims to promote and motivate him in his carpentry work.

A mutual exposure visit was held on August 24, 2024, from Trincomalee to Nikkawehara village in Kandy, with youth and VLVC members. The members of Nikkawehara village warmly welcomed us with their religious and cultural rituals. Both DC members were pleased and established a long-lasting relationship. It was held on the 21st of August in the Conference Hall under the guidance of the Director and the Coordinator. Youth VLVC members participated in this session.
