As part of the above project, EHED Caritas Trincomalee conducted a Value Chain and Home-Based Livelihood Support Training Programme in Iluppaikkulam village on May 23rd, 2025. The programme aimed to promote sustainable agroforestry practices, support home-based income generation, and strengthen climate resilience at the community level.
Key Objectives: Promote small-scale home nurseries and tree cultivation, build awareness on income generation through agroforestry, provide resources and technical guidance for nursery establishment, encourage environmental sustainability and self-employment. Training Highlights: Importance of tree planting for long-term income and climate adaptation, Nursery setup and grow bag management, soil preparation and seedling care and introduction to tree-based value chain opportunities.
