We conducted a practical Capacity Building Training Programme for home garden beneficiaries in Aailadi on May 21st, 2025 with the facilitation of Mr.S.Vithushaan, Agronomist, EHED Caritas, Trincomalee. The training focused on equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills to successfully manage their home gardens and adopt sustainable agricultural practices.
Key Highlights of the Training: Planning and layout of a productive home garden, organic compost preparation and fertilizer application, seed selection, planting methods, and irrigation techniques, common challenges in small-scale farming and how to overcome them, guidance on government support schemes for smallholder farmers and strengthening linkages between farmers and local authorities. This initiative builds both household resilience and local food security, empowering rural communities to grow healthy food and improve their livelihoods.
