Capacity Building training for home garden beneficiaries – Muslim Colony

We conducted a capacity building session in Muslim Colony, Kinniya,  a highly vulnerable community affected by frequent flooding and wild elephant encounters. The training aimed to build resilience and promote sustainable, home-based solutions on May 22nd, 2025.
The programme covered: Cultivation techniques for flood-prone areas, elephant-safe home gardening and fencing methods, awareness on household nutrition and savings, practical approaches to market linkage, cooperation with GPS-based land registration and coordinating between  local officials to solve land and livelihood challenges.
This was a meaningful and timely intervention for a community at risk. The high level of participation and inclusivity—especially involving persons with disabilities—highlighted the strong local need for ongoing support.
Way Forward: Introducing climate-resilient seeds, supporting community fencing solutions, and organizing exposure visits to model villages.
