Training session on Sustainable Agricultural Techniques

On April 11, 2025, EHED Caritas Trincomalee conducted a comprehensive and inspiring training session on Sustainable Agricultural Techniques at T/K/Aligar Maha Vidyalayam – Kinniya, benefiting a total of 515 students. This initiative aimed to introduce schoolchildren to the vital role agriculture plays in building climate resilience and food security in Sri Lanka. The session was expertly facilitated by Mr. N.M. Rizwan, an experienced Agricultural Instructor from the Department of Agriculture – Kinniya. He covered key topics such as organic composting, soil conservation, eco-friendly pest control, climate-smart farming techniques, and practical home gardening methods. Hands-on demonstrations and interactive discussions kept students highly engaged throughout the session.
The event was graced by Rev. Fr. Dr. B. Paul Robinson, Director of EHED Caritas, who addressed the students on the importance of nurturing not only plants but also their character, leadership, and environmental awareness. He emphasized that agriculture is not just a livelihood—it is a way of life that can empower youth to create a greener, self-sustaining future.
